Getting to Cumbria

Travel to the Lake District couldn't be easier. Virgin pendolino trains can do the journey direct from London Euston in just 3 hours. Best destination stations are Kendal Oxenholme (South & Central Lakes), Penrith (Central and Western Lakes) and Carlisle (North & Western Lakes).

Keswick, Cockermouth and Workington can be reached by X4 and X5 bus from Penrith.

Kendal, Penrith and Carlisle are also close to the M6 motorway from the midlands.

Flight Information

The lake district is also within easy reach (1½ hours) of Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester airports. Plenty of budget airlines offer flights and you will have no trouble getting there from virtually anywhere in Europe.
