Steamers & Cruisers in Cumbria

For those wanting a leisurely day out, pleasure cruises are available on several Lake District lakes.

Windermere Lake Cruisers Ltd have a number of different boats that carry passengers on Windermere including traditional steamers. Boats run between Lakeside, Bowness and Ambleside and single adult tickets cost from £4.95. For the more energetic they also hire out rowing boats from £4 and also motor boats from £14.

Steamers have been operating on the 9 mile long Ullswater since 1855. Boats run from Pooley Bridge, Howtown and Glenridding. Prices are from £4.60 for an adult single.

On Derwent Water, The Keswick Launch Company offer trips round the lake throughout the year.

Bring warm clothing even on a sunny day as it can be quite cool out on the lakes even in a light breeze. Most steamers have both inside and outside seating areas, but being outside is much more fun!
